This fabric was designed during the Louis dynasty in the 18th century. Inspired by the Italian renaissance, the intricate patterns and rich velvet texture evokes memories of great Pompeii, a city symbolic of the prosperity of Greek civilisation.
The fabric is suitable for chair covers, etc.
The glass-like lustre of the pattern is achieved by a process called glazing, giving the piece an overall more elegant and three-dimensional feel. It is a large bench-size Chabako, with enough space to store a small kimono without wrinkling the kimono wrapping paper.
